Rep. John James Receives First Committee Assignment on Prestigious Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

James to be the only committee member to represent Michigan’s critical infrastructure needs.

Congressman John James today was appointed to his first committee assignment for the 118th Congress and will serve as a freshman on the esteemed Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“Michigan is the hub of our nation’s domestic manufacturing and the 10th congressional district is its epicenter as the number one manufacturing district in the Country. But that all means nothing if we don’t invest our critical supply chain infrastructure, if our families and communities don’t have clean water, and if air transportation is not both safe and seamless,” said James, who will be the lone representative on the committee for Michigan’s 3,224 miles of shoreline, 120,256 miles of paved roadway, and thousands of miles of sewer lines. “This is as much a national security issue as it is an economic one for Michigan and all Americans. I look forward to working with Chairman Sam Graves to cut through the partisan noise and get good work done for the people.”

James’ selection for the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure continues a legacy of Macomb leadership on this key committee that includes the late Rep. Paul Mitchell and current Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller.

Members of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure are recommended by the Republican Steering Committee. The Steering Committee’s recommendations are subject to ratification by the House Republican Conference.
