Today, Representative John James (MI-10) and a bipartisan coalition of Michigan House members sent a letter to House and Senate Appropriators with regard to funding levels of F-15EXs to be sent to Selfridge Air National Guard Base in FY24 Defense Appropriations.

The letter reads:

“As you negotiate the Fiscal Year 2024 Defense Appropriations Act in conference, we ask that you maintain the $122.6 million for Aircraft Procurement for the Air Force included in H.R.4365, the House passed Department of Defense Appropriations Act.”

James released the following statement after sending this letter:

“Despite our slim House majority, I was able to secure $122.6 million for procurement of F-15EXs to Selfridge in the House Defense Appropriations bill this year. The Senate was unable to mirror that funding level, but Michigan’s House delegation is united in bringing a new fighter mission to Selfridge Air National Guard Base. I look forward to continuing to work with appropriators to advocate for this funding level, and to ultimately bring a new fighter mission to Selfridge. Michigan’s 10th Congressional District elected a battle-tested fighter to fight for them, and that’s exactly what I plan on doing.”

Both Senators from Michigan were asked to join this bipartisan letter but refused to join House efforts. This comes after the Senate Defense Appropriations bill failed to secure the same amount of funding for F-15EX fighters to Selfridge as Rep. James secured in the House.
