Today, Representative John James (MI-10) voted in support of the CARS (Choice in Automobile Retail Sales) Act, for which he was an original co-sponsor. The bill would block the Environmental Protection Agency from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing vehicle emissions standards proposed earlier this year, which would be the most strict to date.
“As a former automotive supplier, I understand the auto industry intimately. I oppose federal bureaucrats compelling Americans to drive electric vehicles whether they want to or not. I also recognize that the Biden administration’s forced transition to EVs—the ‘comply or die’ mandate being pushed down from the federal government to everyone, from dealers to mechanics to suppliers of all shapes and sizes—would absolutely crater the economy,” James said. “I was proud to vote for and be an original co-sponsor for the CARS Act because Americans deserve choice in the vehicle they drive, not a mandate.”
