Contact: Noah Sadlier Today, Representative John James (MI-10) released the following statement after voting in support of Mike Johnson of Louisiana to serve as the next Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives: “Today, I proudly stood alongside the majority of my colleagues to vote for Mike Johnson as Speaker. I am relieved that this unnecessary period in the U.S. House of Representatives is over. Now, we must get back to working on the critical issues that the American people elected this Republican majority to tackle. “Every month, our nation witnesses record-breaking numbers of migrants passing through our borders. More people on the terrorist watchlist were apprehended at the northern and southern borders this year than any year before. We must also continue passing the most conservative appropriations bills that can actually get signed into law, and end Washington’s era of reckless spending that’s left us over $33 trillion in debt. And our nation must stand up in support of our ally Israel as it defends itself against true evil. “The American people are counting on us to deliver for them, and I look forward to continuing the work that this majority’s already accomplished—with Speaker Johnson at the helm—to address these critical issues.” ### |
