Rep. James Announces Winners of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge

WARREN, MI  Today, Representative John James (MI-10) announced the winners of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District. The winning apps are as follows:

1st Place: “Scribe” by Sanjith Sambath and Manav Khosla

            Details: Scribe optimizes the legibility, accessibility, and organization of handwritten documents for individuals to increase both efficiency and success in education. This innovative app will make it easier to read and comprehend handwritten materials, thereby enhancing and improving education for all.

2nd Place: “Hero Savings” by Zayn Baig and Sukhesh Saravan

            Details: Hero Savings is an application that provides veterans and military personnel with a consolidated space where they can easily locate discounts in their area that are only available for veterans. The goal of this veteran-friendly app is to serve those who have served our country in uniform—a noble cause.

3rd Place: “CaloTrack” by Dillon DeWitt

            Details: CaloTrack is a health and diet app that provides a user-friendly app to track calories and hit diet goals. As noted by founder Dillon DeWitt, 42.4% of Americans battle with some stage of obesity, and this young entrepreneur wants to provide users with an app that will help them track their calories and accomplish their diet goals.

Rep. James released the following statement regarding the winners and the Congressional App Challenge:

“The Congressional App Challenge showcases the innate and unique talents that students in Michigan’s 10th Congressional District possess in a number of different ways. First, it highlights an innovative spirit that many of our local students possess. Second, this challenge shows the sheer brain power of the next generation in Southeast Michigan. And third, it exemplifies our community’s identity of hard-work and perseverance,” said James. “The three winning apps specifically address a few important issues to me: assisting and serving veterans, prioritizing health and wellness, and improving education. I am very proud to represent this district in Congress, and am even more proud to see the talent of these young entrepreneurs from right here in Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.”
