WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tonight, Representative John James (MI-10) voted in favor of the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This tax package will enhance the child tax credit, an issue Rep. James has fought for since he was elected to represent Michigan’s 10th Congressional District. This bill also restores research and development expensing, which will support 9,475 jobs and $808 million in wages throughout the state of Michigan.

Rep. James issued the following statement after voting for this legislation:

“I am proud to support a commonsense bill like the tax package to help working parents get a little support for the heroic work they do to raise the next generation of Americans. Not only does this legislation support bringing back the child tax credit, an initiative I have championedthrough the introduction of my Reignite Hope Act, but it also supports thousands of Michigan workers by strengthening research and development across multiple sectors. This legislation is a big step forward for Michigan and America, and I am proud to have voted in support,” said James.

Rep. James has been among Capitol Hill’s leading voices to bring back the child tax credit. His legislation, the Reignite Hope Act, was one of the first pieces of legislation introduced this Congress in support of the child tax credit, and Rep. James was a vocal proponent for including this program into the tax package throughout this process.
