John James Leads Resolution with Entire Michigan House Delegation Congratulating Michigan Athletes of the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John James (MI-10) introduced a resolution congratulating the Olympians and Paralympians of Michigan who competed in the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics in Paris, France. The resolution, spearheaded by Rep. James and co-signed by the entire Michigan congressional delegation, honors and recognizes the 19 Michigan athletes that represented Team USA in Paris:

·      Heath Baldwin: track and field 

·      Bobby Body: para powerlifting 

·      Devin Booker: basketball 

·      Kate Brim: para cycling 

·      Adam Coon: wrestling

·      Aaron Cummings: rugby 

·      Andrew Evans: track and field 

·      Grant Fisher: track and field 

·      Zach Hammer: sport climbing 

·      Hobbs Kessler: track and field 

·      Sorin Koszyk: rowing 

·      Evan Medell: para taekwondo

·      Alena Olsen: rugby

·      Hanna Roberts: BMX freestyle cycling 

·      Jayci Simon: para badminton 

·      Grace Stark: track and field

·      Abby Tamer: field hockey 

·      Jaydin Blackwell: para track and field

·      Paul Schulte: wheelchair basketball 

Rep. James issued the following statement regarding the resolution:

“The Michigan Olympians and Paralympians that wore Team USA across their chest represent the best of our state. Their passion and dedication to excellence made us all proud on the world stage. I’m thrilled that the entire Michigan delegation was able to come together to honor these incredible Michiganders.”

Rep. Jack Bergman (MI-01) said:

“The men and women who represented the red, white, and blue on the world stage also represented our state exceedingly well, showcasing their dedication, patriotism, and unique strengths before the world. This resolution will ensure each exemplary athlete receives the congressional recognition they deserve. I’m proud to join with all of my Michigan colleagues to congratulate and applaud the Michigan athletes who competed in this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic games.”

Rep. Shri Thanedar (MI-13) issued the following statement:

“From blue to green to everything in between, Michigan has always been a bastion of athleticism and sportsmanship. I am so proud of the Michiganders who represented our great state on the world stage. Their dedication and perseverance in their respective sports is something to both admire and commend, and I am proud to support their achievements in the halls of Congress.”

Rep. Dan Kildee (MI-08) also issued the following statement:

“I’m proud to honor these Michigan athletes for their incredible accomplishments in Paris as part of Team USA. Their hard work and dedication to their craft will continue to inspire Michiganders for generations to come,” said Congressman Kildee.
