FYI: Congressman John James to Speak TODAY at Afghanistan Hearing

Congressman John James will today participate in the first House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on the United States’ botched evacuation from Afghanistan.

“President Joe Biden’s hasty, ill-planned withdrawal from Afghanistan fell well short,” James said. “I am hopeful that, through this testimony and future hearings, we will better understand what the real cost of this withdrawal was to national security and what, if anything, can be don’t to make our allies whole.”

Today’s event is the first in a series of hearings and will focus on the fall of Kabul from August 13-August 30, particularly the efforts undertaken by the military and private citizens to evacuate Americans and our allies. The hearing will feature six witnesses, including former Army Specialist Aidan Gunderson who was deployed to Afghanistan during the airlift and leaders from private rescue operations.

The hearing is open to the press and will take place at 10:00 a.m. ET. More details can be found here

Rep. James is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and serves as chair of the Africa Subcommittee.
