Congressman John James, Macomb Leaders Hold Press Conference on Start of 2-Year Lyngbya StudyContact: Abby Mitch Macomb County, Mich. – Congressman John James toured areas of concern and viewed initial data collection for the Army Corps of Engineers’ 2-year-long study of the lyngbya growth in Lake St. Clair. The bacteria, whose origin is unknown, has wreaked havoc on Lake St. Clair and daily life in the region. Afterward, the congressman gave a press conference on the bacteria’s impact on the local ecosystem as well as human activity. He was joined by Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller, Macomb Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Don Brown, and the Army Corps of Engineers. “District 10 is a coastal district, and Lake St Clair is essential to our health and wealth. Lyngbya poses a threat to both,” James said. “We must be good stewards of our water resources and ensure they are available for generations to come.” Pictures of Rep. James’ visit and press conference can be viewed here. ### |
